Core Components


Form Builder tool – to build smart forms to capture data digitally either while online or offline with the flexibility to embed one form into another.


Workflow Builder tool – To render collaboration by creating a framework for the data entered into a form to follow. Each form has an associated workflow which determines a pathway and decision points for data within a form once it has been submitted.


Reporting tool - The reporting system allows easy, visual overviews of all form submissions. The reports can be filtered and sorted to only include certain information, allowing informative and easy overviews of submissions.


Data analysis tools – [Pivot, Gantt and Google Earth analysis] Creates an easy, intuitive and highly informative analysis of reports, giving useful summaries of reports, allowing users to analyse trends or get a quick overview of important information.


Scheduling - The Scheduling system ensures that a report can be automatically issued to key users, ensuring that no submission is overlooked.


Role-based access driven by a set of pre-allocated permissions to users, forms, workflows, and reports. The permissions of each form and form field/web widget control the access of the form. Certain users or groups of users can be granted or denied access to a data entry based on their User Role and their associated permissions. This functionality aids in protecting the privacy of users and their data entries.


Integration to third party applications such as Xero, WorkflowMax, Google Maps and Earth, Microsoft Excel and many more.

Engin.Systems Limited, is a New Zealand owned company with a proven track record of successfully completing complex projects for over 8 years. Prior to being established as a new entity in October 2016, Engin.Systems was the software development division of Cook Costello which is a multidisciplinary engineering company with over 40 years of market standing.

Engin.Systems has a great body of existing work and experience to draw from. With this experience we bring knowledge of the successful software development process. Fundamental to this method is to understand the problem, the business, the data, the technology, and the results. We have been engaged in building SaaS software solutions with web interfaces for over 3 years. Bespoke tool development and data analysis and R&D to extend engineering knowledge has been an aspect of the business over the last 8 years. Between them the software development team have over 20 years’ experience in a wide range of IT fields including web design and development, database and system performance tuning, e-commerce, integration, business analysis and documentation.

In early September 2016 Cook Costello's software division's Project Sapper was determined merit-worthy by the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand (ACENZ) for great consultancy work, providing a custom-built solution to a client's complex and evolving needs.







Our Story


  • December 2013

    Establishment

    Software team at Cook Costello started work on a bunch of big data regional analysis and cloud based projects to aid and assist Canterbury Recovery following the earthquake sequence that occurred throughout Christchurch City and the Canterbury region, New Zealand 2010 - 2012.

  • September 2014

    Sapper - FCT

    Our first cloud based cost calculator solution went live on the 23rd September, 2014 to assist with streamlining collaboration and automating efforts to solve for the most appropriate and cost effective foundation applicable to a dwelling, its site constraints, and specific geotechnical setting.

  • July 2015

    SAPPER - Retaining wall assessment

    We went live with our retaining wall assessment tool to aid and assist with the capture of field observations, site assessment data, and to spatially map retaining wall locations with drawing tools while in the field, culminating with property damage reports, repair costings, as well as portfolio analysis

  • December 2015

    Engin Product

    We began designing and developing Engin in late 2015. The product concept was firmly grounded by our Canterbury Recovery experience and sought to solve two primary observations – the massive information loss from paper based and spreadsheet records – and the significant time and cost barrier of implementing and adapting bespoke or off-the-shelf systems. Engin solves these and a suite of other fundamental data and information constraints

  • May 2016

    Engin Live

    We went live with Engin in mid 2016 with some core features like Form builder and workflow Route builder, full auditing and user role based permission control.

  • August 2016

    Engin.SYSTEMS LIMITED

    The company was incorporated on the 10th of August 2016.

  • September 2016

    ACENZ Award

    In early September our project Sapper was deemed merit-worthy by the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand (ACENZ) for great consultancy work, providing a custom-built solution to a client's complex and evolving needs.

    NZ Space Challenge

    We came third in the northern regionals of the NZ Space Challenge

    Integration Platform

    Engin's Integration platform was rolled out, connecting Engin to third party apps via an API based access.

    Mobile App

    Mobile App was rolled out on 17th April

    Contract Tracing App

    A Contact tracing app was made availabilty on Engin for easy and free tracking while undertaking site visits/work during Alert levels 2 and above as a part of our efforts to support New Zealand business to get back to work.

We are excited to announce our recent success at the NZ Space Challenge 2018, we came third in the northern regionals of the NZ Space Challenge and subsequently presented our solution at the Regional Showcase event at GridAKL in Auckland.
